The Art of Not Mixing

Despite having a “new” series (landscape.podcasts) on the table (one that will play out through 2029), I find myself morphing into another phase of life. Having turned 66 two weeks ago (and having been a runner/calisthenics man for 53 of those 66 years), I’m having a blast in my new role as a personal fitness trainer for the 55-85 year old demographic. I’m working (and, now, working out) at an elite, hospital affiliated gym 25 minutes from my house; training guys who want to look like me (from a physical/muscular perspective).
I wear a bikers cap when I work out (aerobic or resistance), so I can clip my Jay-Bird ear-buds to the brim & enjoy the ambient/ether-jazz/techno mixes I’ve made for many years; drifting into my own, personal, ambient space. My personal gym routine lays much of the groundwork for the routines I program for my clients.
Our next podcast edition will post this coming January (2026) and the progression will be January-May-September for the next several years. I will be “collecting” sounds, as I run across them, for possible future editions — but for now, I’m simply enjoying my own body-of-work in the mixing realm for this new endeavor!
