Skambidt – Essens 6 (The Aftermath): Immersive Sound Sculptures – Frequency State

Essens 6 (The Aftermath) opens with a descending, haunting synth tone before layers of texture gradually unfold. Reverb-drenched sounds fill the space, while off-kilter rhythms and repetitive pulses provide subtle movement beneath the ambient surface. The result is an immersive piece that shifts and shapes itself slowly, pulling the listener deeper into its sonic landscape.

The track is part of Abstraktionens Essens, a project that explores the raw material of sound through Eurorack modular synthesis, field recordings, granular processing, and analog textures. It’s a release that sits comfortably in the territory of experimental electronics, ambient noise, and exploratory sound art.

Behind Skambidt is Lars Kivig, an active figure in the Copenhagen underground scene since the late 1990s. Beyond this project, he is co-composer and keyboardist for the long-running Danish instrumental group My Beloved, and has also worked on the experimental Acorn Falling project, collaborating with musicians including The Bad Seeds’ Thomas Wydler and the late Peter Principal of Tuxedomoon.
