Ken Peel – Conflicted: Textured Electronics and Piano Layers – Frequency State

Conflicted opens with swirling synth textures and delayed lines that create an evolving soundscape. Subtle rhythmic elements begin to establish a slow, bouncing groove, while harmonic layers shift and expand. The arrival of piano adds a melodic twist, weaving through the electronics with a contemplative quality. As the track develops, additional synth layers rise and interlace, resulting in an engaging piece that balances atmosphere with forward momentum.

Somerset-based electronic musician Ken Peel presents Conflicted as the hypnotic lead single from his forthcoming 10-track album small boat: adrift, due out 10 October 2025. Blending floating synth chords with answering piano phrases, the track builds a contrapuntal texture underpinned by deep kicks and resonant tones. Much of the writing process took place using Ableton Move, with finishing touches completed in Peel’s studio.

Ken Peel has been active in music for over 25 years, with a background spanning funk, soul, jazz-tinged techno, chilled-out beats, and experimental works. His music has been broadcast on BBC, XFM, Classic FM, and Soma FM, and licensed for both TV soundtracks in the UK and cinema campaigns in the US. In 2017, he completed a Master of Music in Creative Sound and Media Technology at Bath Spa University. Based in Somerset, Peel divides his time between family life, music production, and organising the Wells Electronic Music Open Mic since 2024.
