Introducing Our comprehensive sleep health Assessment: A holistic way to understand and Improve your sleep

More than a sleep study – a roadmap to better sleep

Poor sleep is more than just feeling tired—it can affect your mood, energy, performance, and overall well-being. In fact, research shows that over 30% of Australian adults experience poor sleep health.

If you’ve been struggling with sleep, suspect a sleep disorder like insomnia or obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), or you want to optimise your sleep for better health and performance, our new Sleep Health Assessment at Sleep Matters can help.

Unlike traditional overnight sleep studies, which are often uncomfortable and only capture a single night’s data, our assessment uses medical-grade technology to monitor your sleep naturally—in the comfort of your own home—over several nights. This provides a more accurate, holistic picture of your sleep patterns and what might be affecting them.

How Our Sleep Health Assessment Is Different

Traditional sleep studies are important, but they often focus only on breathing or a single sleep disorder. Our clinic’s approach is comprehensive, combining science-backed assessment tools with personalised recommendations to help you understand and improve your sleep.

Here’s what’s included:

1. Medical-Grade Home Sleep Monitoring

Using the innovative Somfit device, we measure your brain waves (EEG), breathing, blood oxygen, heart rate, movement, head position, and even environmental factors like noise.

  • Comfortable, no wires or hospital stay required
  • 5–7 nights of natural sleep monitoring for greater accuracy and nuance of your sleep habits

2. Screening for Common Sleep Disorders

Our assessment screens for a range of sleep concerns, including:

  • Insomnia
  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
  • Circadian Rhythm Disorders (e.g., delayed sleep phase, shift work disorder)
  • Parasomnias (e.g., nightmares, sleepwalking, teeth grinding)

3. Sleep, Mood & Lifestyle Logs

You’ll complete a 7-day sleep diary and lifestyle log, giving us valuable insight into your daily habits, stress levels, and routines that may be impacting your sleep.

4. Professional Review by a Sleep Physician

A sleep physician will carefully review your data to identify any signs of sleep apnea or other breathing-related concerns.

5. Personalised Report & Feedback Session

You’ll receive a comprehensive sleep health report along with tailored recommendations. We provide a 30minute feedback session with one of our clinicians to discuss results and explore recommendations.
