Matthew George Luczy – The Dado Garden: Ambient Composition with Field-Recorded Roots – Frequency State

Matthew George Luczy’s The Dado Garden is a layered, ambient composition taken from his forthcoming album The Sabbatical Diaries. Built from electronic pulses and piano-like motifs, the track develops gradually, with harmonic elements providing structure and direction. Organ-like tones and subtle orchestral textures shape a rich soundscape that balances experimental elements with a composed, melodic sensibility.

Composed during an extended journey through France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy, the album was created entirely from a mobile setup. Luczy used a Teenage Engineering OP-1 Field, a MIDI keyboard, and virtual instruments such as Noire and Eric Whitacre Choir. Field recordings from the trip are integrated into the music, giving each track a strong sense of place and atmosphere.

Inspired by artists like Nils Frahm, Jon Hopkins, Rival Consoles, and Ben Lukas Boysen, Luczy’s approach feels both intimate and expansive. The Dado Garden offers an immersive listening experience with detailed textures and subtle development—an evocative piece that reflects its origins in travel and observation.
