SOHN – Is Love Permanent, Or Does It Evaporate With Us? / Seva: Two Expansive New Works from Albadas (Dawn Songs) – Frequency State

The new double release from SOHN — Is Love Permanent, Or Does It Evaporate With Us? and Seva — captures the producer’s distinctive approach to mood, melody, and electronic texture.
Is Love Permanent, Or Does It Evaporate With Us? opens with slow-moving chords and evolving harmonies, developing gently through fluid synth layers and restrained rhythmic elements. The track balances warmth and melancholy, shifting between moments of calm and quiet emotional intensity. Seva follows with a more spacious and meditative tone, built around subtle arpeggios and slowly expanding textures. Together, the two tracks explore movement and reflection, emotion and detachment — a delicate balance between structure and improvisation.
These pieces form part of SOHN’s upcoming album Albadas (Dawn Songs), a contemplative and instrumental body of work created during early morning improvisation sessions at his home studio in Garraf, Spain. The album marks a shift in process for the British composer and producer, focusing on sound as the primary vehicle for emotion rather than lyrics.
Known for his acclaimed releases on 4AD and collaborations with artists such as BANKS, Rhye, Kwabs, and Lana Del Rey, SOHN continues to refine his production style — fusing analog warmth with modern minimalism. His new label adaptpivotmove serves as a home for this kind of exploratory, process-driven work, where each composition feels both personal and timeless.
