Bryan Senti – La Marea: Ambient Strings and Oceanic Reflections – Frequency State

La Marea begins with quiet ambient textures before the arrival of hollow percussion and low string tones. Slow, drawn-out harmonies build a sense of mystery, as pizzicato and layered string parts weave through the mix. The atmosphere feels spacious and meditative — a slow-moving tide of sound that gathers emotional weight as it progresses. Later sections open into a sweeping orchestral landscape, with strings taking centre stage against subtle electronic and percussive detail.
The track forms the title piece of Bryan Senti’s new album La Marea, released via The state51 Conspiracy. Combining ambient, baroque, and electronic influences, the album continues the conceptual lineage of his previous record Manu, this time reflecting on the experience of migration and the memory of homeland. “While Manu improvised on the story of my Colombian mother,” Senti explains, “I wanted La Marea to speak to my father and those like him who emigrated from Cuba to the US — forever inhabiting the memory of a homeland that no longer existed.”
The accompanying video, directed by Andrea Franco, expands this vision through a visual meditation on water, ancestry, and emotional transformation. Shot with a poetic focus on the ocean as both witness and symbol, it perfectly complements Senti’s compositional depth.
Featuring performances from the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Spencer Zahn (bass), and Noah Hoffeld (cello), La Marea was produced by Justin Moshkevich and mixed by Francesco Donadello for Dolby Atmos.
