Strata 3 DRB Detail of the rock layers of the Blue Lias Formation exposed in a cliff at Dunraven Bay on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. There are alternating bands of darker-coloured shale and lighter-coloured limestone from the Jurassic Period. The picture above shows the vertical face of the eroding rocks, while the picture below shows a horizontal rock pavement extending outwards from the base of the cliff. The limestone pavement is one of the lower strata in the sequence for which all the upper strata have fallen away. The neighbouring dark shale is seen immediately below.
