Dylan Henner – We Walked all the Way to the Lake and The Water Was So Still We Jumped in Naked – Frequency State

The track opens with haunting ambient textures beneath clipped pizzicato sounds, creating a sense of fragility before layered vocal tones emerge. As it evolves, marimba arpeggios and gated synth tones bring rhythmic momentum, driving the piece forward while maintaining its atmospheric character. The sound design balances delicacy and intensity, moving through shifting textures with a strong sense of progression.

This release comes ahead of Dylan Henner’s new album Star Dream FM, framed around the fictional idea of a radio station broadcasting the artist’s own memories. The record explores themes of adolescence, memory, and emotional transition, weaving ambient synthesis, marimba, digital choir, and processed voice into immersive compositions.

Dylan Henner first gained attention with cassette releases on Phantom Limb, Dauw, and AD93, followed by his acclaimed debut The Invention of the Human (AD93, 2020), which was named Album of the Year by BBC 6Music. His follow-up, You Always Will Be (AD93, 2022), traced the full arc of a human life in one continuous piece. Known for his poetic track titles and carefully constructed soundscapes, Henner’s work draws on ambient and experimental traditions, sound design, and field recordings, always with an emphasis on storytelling through texture and atmosphere.
